VANDAL (Ashes & Embers #2) by Carian Cole

She takes my breath away; she is so beautifully damaged.
Yes I had broken her, ravished her life, destroyed her happiness. I brought her to ultimate despair. I was responsible for all the pain and suffering that now brought her to her knees in front of me.
Reckless in her agony.
She is a mirror of my own tortured soul.
But what I took away I can give back.
In ways she cannot even begin to imagine.
She is everything right in all my wrongs.
She loves me. She needs me.
She has no idea I’m the one who wrecked her life.

Vandal (Ashes & Embers #2) by Carian Cole
Vandal & Tabitha

Hmmm… well, I took a 48 hour hiatus prior to sitting down to write this review. My emotions were so peeked that I needed to straighten out my thoughts before I blew through this and didn’t do it justice. I’m not even sure at this point my evaluation of this book will do it justice, but here it goes.

I was enthralled with Vandal. His way of life, his appearance, his quirks, and his downfalls. Something about a self destructive musician that I just can’t seem to stay away from. This book will take you to places you’ve never been. When you get there, it’ll rip your heart out, send you into a tailspin, and keep pushing you till you have nothing left. Don’t mistake me, this story is everything you need to feel just about every emotion a human can. I cried, I laughed, and I even had to change my panties a time or two! There is so much angst and torment that tore me apart and put me back together that I think I am now ready for my meds on the psych ward!

Vandal is a complex man. To say “He has issues” would be an understatement. His predicament starts long before his story does. He seems to have every psychological problem known to man! He’s afraid of commitment, he doesn’t like to be touched, he has a substance abuse problem, he doesn’t trust a soul, and well, for lack of a better word, he’s just plain old stubborn. Now, onto his good qualities… He’s hotter than hot, he’s six foot four, and he has hair that goes on forever. I’m sold! He also (without knowing it) is pretty damn comical. I honestly think the tragedies that happen to him (even though heartbreaking) were much need to snap him out of his exhausted lifestyle and meaningless relationships. Once he realized that we are all products of our past, but we don’t need to be prisoners of it, he seemed to shine brighter and stand taller and love deeper. God I love this man! I submit to him in every way!

“You’re exhausted and too thin” I follow him to the kitchen and help him take the stuff out of the bags.  It feels strangely domestic and familiar. “I thought men liked thin.” He winks at me and my insides melt for days. “I like some curves so I can hold onto you. You’re way too skinny. My dick weighs more than you.” ~Vandal & Tabitha convo

Tabitha is so beautifully fucked up. She makes me want to hold her, cradle her, and whisper in her ear that life will get better, just hold on baby. It’s funny how two people with similar issues can make each other well again. She is on the verge of despair. She is holding on my a thread. Her life may as well be over and she’s found someone to help her with that or so she thinks. Think again missy! There’s this happy life lying underneath this broke shell of a woman and Tabitha just doesn’t know how to get back to her. A person that likes pumpkin ice cream and cookies, now settles for coffee and crackers. Her transformation is one of exhilarating triumph and I’m glad I had a front row seat to the show.

“My list is much more boring than yours. I like soft music, reading, art, angels, nature, photography… and big long-haired guys with control issues” ~Tabitha to Vandal

Great supporting characters in Vandal’s little brother Lukas. He’s a much needed support system to his brother and just about anyone else that needs his assistance. I can’t wait to read more about him. Even our little Evie from Storm makes her presence known with her contribution to Vandal and Tabitha’s transformation in that beautiful, loving, and adorable little kitty Sterling. Sterling is by far my favorite supporting character and he never uttered a word… just some motoring sounds! Prrrrrrr…..

This book will take you from heartbreak to heartache. It will make you laugh out loud, ugly cry, and everything in-between the fucked up folds of it’s pages. I have never felt so much emotion and passion towards a book. This family of musicians and their loved ones will soon become a part of your life, your family and you won’t want to miss a single tear, a day of turmoil, or a gust busting laugh. The pacing is fast and first class. The dialogue flows with proficiency and feels authentic and genuine. Carian Cole has knocked it out of the park once again with another one of her out of this world additions to the Ashes and Embers series.

The calm before the storm…
I lived in the quiet stillness.
I felt the wind rustle, warning me, telling me to get out of its path.
But I didn’t.
I never stood a chance.
A series of weather and road mishaps leaves me trapped in the middle of a blizzard with a complete stranger. In the back of a pickup truck. For forty-eight freakin’ hours.
A stranger with long hair, tattoos, and rippling with muscle.
A stranger with an insanely sexy voice and a wicked smile that turned my insides to jelly.
A stranger who held me in his arms, calmed me, and then set a fire in me that I couldn’t put out.
Storm lives up to his name. Beautiful. Dangerously inviting. Tumultuous. Dark. A clash of hot and cold.
He’s used to getting everything he wants.
And now he wants me.
Some people chase storms for the beautiful thrill. What happens when the storm chases you?

I have a passion for the bad boys, those covered in tattoos, sexy smirks, ripped jeans, fast cars, motorcycles and of course, the sweet girls that try to tame them and win their hearts. My debut series, Ashes & Embers, follows the lives of rock band members as they find, and sometimes lose, the loves of their lives.

My first novel in the Ashes & Embers series, Storm, published on September of 2014. Vandal, the second novel in this series is publishing in February of 2015. I currently have approximately nine books slated for this series, as well as an MC series in the works, and a few stand-alones coming in 2015 onward.

Born and raised a Jersey girl, I now reside in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and our multitude of furry pets and spend most of my time writing, reading, and vacuuming.
