Over ten years ago my husband and I were driving from Chicago to Tampa and somewhere in Kentucky I remember seeing a billboard that was all black with five white words, “I do, therefore I am!” I’m certain that it was a Nike ad, but for me I found this to be completely profound.

Take running for example. Most will say that a runner is someone who runs five days a week and runs under a ten minute mile pace. Well, I can tell you that I never run five days a week and on my best days my pace is an eleven minute mile. I have run quite a few half marathons and one full marathon. No matter what anyone says . . . I run, therefore I am a runner.

I’ve taken this same thought and applied it to so many areas of my life: cooking, gardening, quilting, and yes . . . writing.

I may not be culinary trained, but I love to cook and my family and friends loves to eat my food. I cook, therefore I am a chef!

My thumb is not black. I love to grow herbs, tomatoes, roses, and lavender. I garden, therefore I am a gardener!

I love beautiful fabrics and I can follow a pattern. My triangles may not line up perfectly . . . but who cares, my quilts are still beautiful when they are finished. I quilt, therefore I am a quilter.

I have been writing my entire life. It is my husband who finally said, “Who cares if people like your books or not? If you enjoy writing them and you love your stories…then write them.” He has always been my biggest fan and he was right. Being a writer has always been my dream and what I said I wanted to be when I grew up.

So, I’ve told you who I am and what I love to do . . . now I’m going to tell you the why.

I have two boys that are three years a part. My husband and I want to instill in them adventure, courage, and passion. We don’t expect them to be perfect at things, we just want them to try and do. It’s not about winning the race; it’s about showing up in the first place. We don’t want them to be discouraged by society stereotypes, we want them to embrace who they are and what they love. After all, we only get one life.

In the end, they won’t care how many books I actually sell . . . all that matters to them is that I said I was going to do it, I did it, and I have loved every minute of it.

Find something that you love and tell yourself, “I do, therefore I am.”

WRONG SIDE GIRL RELEASE BANNER_2

Cole has been Lizzy’s best friend from the moment he found her crying in the woods two weeks before her tenth birthday. Growing up without a father, Lizzy was raised by her alcoholic and drug-addicted mother. Being branded as the town whore’s daughter, she had one bright spot in her dark world: Cole. He was the one constant in her life, the only person she trusted would never let her down.
He’s her savior, her protector…and the secret love of her life.
Now, sixteen years later, they both live successful lives in Boston. But while Lizzy still harbors hope that one day Cole will come around and see what’s right in front of his eyes, Cole enjoys his bachelor lifestyle with no intentions of slowing down.
It’s time for Lizzy to move on.

Cole has been in love with Lizzy since he can remember. Those gorgeous but sad green eyes of hers have held him captive since he was twelve years old.

MY REVIEW

Wrong Side Girl by Julia Goda
Lizzy & Cole
MOVING AND CAPTIVATING

This is a story of friendship, love, betrayal, and acceptance. They don’t really happen in that order and they happen more than once, but make no mistake about it… you will have to go through some awfully emotional shit to get to the pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. This story is not cut and dry, boy meets girl, boy wins girl. You’ll be on an emotional roller coaster for most of it. Lies, truths, and revelations will be revealed before you can utter a coherent word. I fell in love with these characters from the start and lived every aspect of their lives with them. I’m spent! It’s comical, it’s emotional, and it’s a beautiful story that will take you on a wild ride and, well, set you down not so gently. lol!

Lizzy is ten years old when she meets Cole. I believe she fell in love with him that very first day. She comes to trust in him and his friendship over the years. As she progresses into womanhood and blossoms into a beautiful woman her feelings for Cole only intensify, but her checkered past and soiled upbringing seem to be the one obstacle she can’t overcome in order to show him and the rest of the world that she is worthy of the love of this man. Not for lack of trying, but because there are town folks that just won’t let her forget where she came from and who her Mother is. To them she’ll always be known as the town whore’s daughter.

Cole is rough around the edges and seems to be missing a heart at times. He never settles down, he never commits, and for all intensive purposes, he’s a manwhore. Don’t get me wrong. He would never intentionally hurt Lizzy, but his actions are indirectly sabotaging his intent towards her. Cole also had a rough upbringing, but nothing like what Lizzy had to endure. His Mother seems to think she’s above being nice to anyone not within her standing. This includes Cole and most definitely Lizzy. Although Cole could care less what his Mother or anyone thinks, he’s still kind of tethered to that life and with it comes much defense for Lizzy and for him.

The supporting character cast is fairly large and mostly rotten to the core! Lizzy has some pretty good coworkers and friends she can rely on to get her through most anything. The malice starts with Cole’s Mother, her friends, and Cole’s Ex-girlfriend Courtney. Holy shit is this girl wicked. She makes the devil himself look like Mother Teresa. Throughout the entire story her sole purpose in life is to drive a wedge in between Lizzy and Cole so that she can take Lizzy’s place. The things this girl comes up with are inconceivable.

The storyline is extremely compelling. So much so that I found that the character’s lives became my main concern while submerged in their world. The dialogue flows with efficiency and feels exceedingly natural. It’s not necessarily a dark read, but by no means is it light hearted. The story itself was effortless to read and the pacing just right. The tension that Ms. Goda creates leads to an unexpected climax that shook my soul.

EXCERPT

When Lizzy opened her door my jaw fell to the floor.

Holy hell, she was sexy.

I had never seen her in a dress. Well, that wasn’t true. As a child, she wore dresses all the time. I had seen her in sexy get-ups when we went out clubbing, but she always wore jeans, sexy jeans, but still jeans, paired with a tight top.

This was something else.

Her dress was all black. It had no sleeves, so it showed off her sexy arms and shoulders, but had something like a turtleneck that wasn’t a turtleneck. It looked hot as hell. And it was short. Extremely short. I hoped to God that it covered her ass. It was clingy in all the right places and left nothing to the imagination.

It took me a second to recover from that view. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the body that was now mine to explore. My dick twitched in my pants in anticipation, impatient.

Yeah, buddy, I know exactly what you’re feeling right now.

But I had told myself that I would not have sex with her until she was absolutely sure she could trust me with her body. When I took her for the first time, I wanted all of her. Holding nothing back. Having no doubts.

Looking at her now, I could tell I was going to take a cold shower tonight. A very long, very cold shower, or maybe a hot one where I would jerk myself off again and again thinking about her in that dress.

My dick was straining against my fly. I took a deep breath to rein him in as my eyes travelled up her body to meet her dancing ones.

“You done?” she asked me teasingly, her eyebrows raised.

“Nope,” I said and let my eyes wander again. That made her laugh out loud. A grin spread across my face. I had it back. Her laugh. My laugh.

She stepped back from the door to invite me inside, but I shook my head.

“No, baby. Right now, I want to rip that dress off of your hot body so I can explore every inch of you. I don’t trust myself enough to not ravage you, so you need to come out here where you’re relatively safe.”

She pressed her lips together to keep from laughing, grabbed her purse from the little table by the door, then turned around to pull the door closed and locked up. At the sight presented to me when she turned, I groaned. And my dick stood at full attention.

Her back was completely bare.

Naked skin from shoulder to just above her ass.

No bra.

My hands had a mind of their own when they gripped her hips and squeezed. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath through my nose, trying to tamp down my instant arousal.

Jesus! I had never been this turned on by a dress. Or anything for that matter.

She was going to be my undoing.

I have been writing stories in my head since I can remember. Much to my teachers’ dismay, given the task of writing a short essay I would always come back with way too long and detailed stories. Many discussions (I have always been somewhat of a smart-aleck) and bad grades were the result, so that for most of my life I thought I couldn’t write worth a damn and pursued other careers. But the dream of being an author wouldn’t be ignored and kept lingering. With a little help from my fantastic husband, who gave me the necessary kick in the behind, I was finally brave enough to start writing my first novel and finished it only a few short weeks later—well, the first draft, that is. But the seal was broken and since then I have enjoyed given myself over to my stories and making them come to live.

My novels jump genres and touch on all kinds of different topics, but the things I try to focus on no matter what are romance, strong women, and a good sense of humor.

Now, when I’m not in my writing cave, spinning the tales that have been prodding me or editing (yes, I am also a professional editor, guess that degree in Literature and Linguistics turned out to be useful after all!), I enjoy reading, drinking coffee, eating good food, and listening to rock music.

I have lived in Germany (Lower Saxony to be exact, the rainy-winter and super-humid-summer part), Virginia, and Colorado (where I fell in love with Boulder and the Rocky Mountains). My current home is Southern Alberta, Canada, where I live close enough to the Rockies with my husband and chocolate lab to enjoy the beauty and excitement that is mountain living.

MY REVIEW

Lawless by T.M. Frazier
Bear & Thia
KILLED ME SLOWLY

So, I just finished it like seconds ago and I’m so fucking pissed… I hate cliffys! Hate them with a passion! It’s not just “a cliffy,” it’s a crazy cliffy. I can’t believe it ended where it did. My mind is so fucked up right now. Hopefully the time it takes to get Soulless: Lawless Part 2, King Series Book 4 out I’ll have calmed down! Now, even though it’s a cliffy, it’s still a fanfuckingtasting book. It has grit, it has angst, and it will set your soul on fire, guaranteed.

Bear is an asshole, but he’s a hot freakin’ asshole! He’s lost in a wasted world where he believes his life isn’t worth shit. He goes from whore to bottle to drugs and back to whore again. Living on the edge, without a MC, he seems to be content with that life till he’s faced with his father’s decision to rough up a girl he met once, but seems to feel connected to. I love that his “good guy” side comes out when needed, but I could slap his ass for the pain his “bad guy” side creates.

Thia is so damn cute… she’s one of the toughest and youngest lead characters I’ve ever read. I love the fact that she knows how to shoot a gun, rifle, or shotgun. How cool is that. She’s in a bad spot and looks for help from Bear. Little does she know that her decision set off a whole shit-storm of hell on her, Bear, and the rest of the crew. I still can’t get past that ending… it’s killing me TM… Why????? I can’t wait to get my hands on that next book. Damn you!

So, the supporting characters cast is pretty standard. King and Ray (Doe) are still funny and cute as ever. They don’t have much dialogue, but do they really need any? LOL! Preppy makes his presence known a few times. There are a few villains from the MC that bare mentioning… Gus… Not sure what to make of this guy yet. At times you think he’s good and others, well, I’ll let you decide. Now Chop (Bears father) is a total asspipe psycho and he must be destroyed!

This book will drag you to the brink of insanity and laugh in your face. It will pull on your heartstrings and then melt your panties. The storyline and pacing are perfect. The characters are relatable and likeable although you may want to strangle them at times! This is love story and a tragic one at that. Make no mistake, you’ll be pissed at the end, but more is coming, so standby and be patient… yeah, right… TM hurry the fuck up.. I’m dying over here!
