Review: Luke: A Scrooged Christmas by CP Smith

A short but sweet tale of Insta-love and faith.

If Luke Knight could change anything about his life, it would be the day his nephew died. Filled with guilt, Luke lived a lonely existence. Until the day an angel crashed into his truck… and struck his heart.

Anna Stubbs knew one thing without question: God has a reason for everything. Her optimism and faith shine from within, and no matter how hard Luke tries, he can’t ignore it.

When life throws an unexpected curveball, both Luke and Anna will need to reach deep inside themselves this holiday season, and learn to have faith that God is in control and duck slippers truly are a man’s undoing.

Rated R for language and sexual content.

Luke: A Scrooged Christmas by C.P. Smith
Luke and Anna
5 Stars

This is a novella and for those of you that don’t know what that is, it’s a short novel or long short story… and in CP Smith’s case, it’s an even quicker version of her “insta-love” kinda stories.

This is a holiday/Christmas setting and in the (kindle addition) 73 pages you’ll go from gloomy to joyful to alarmed to turned on to shit, who knows anymore!! God I love her stories!!

Anna is coming home for the first time since her parents passed and her brother Gregg is leaving on a trip with his band which leaves Anna home alone for Christmas. She’s not thrilled to say the least, but when a fender-bender happens and an unexpected malfunction with her furnace, things go from bad to holy fucking hot!!

Luke is a contractor by trade, but filling in for his friend’s heating and Air Conditioning Company while he’s away for the holidays, so when he gets a call about no heat on Christmas he’s not exactly overjoyed, but heads out non-the-less.

Eeeeek, this story is short, but packs a punch! I could not put it down. I was drawn to Luke and Anna immediately and their charm and keenness kept me turning pages like they were on fire. LOL, they just might have been. The storyline was exceptional and effortless to read. The pacing was perfect and the climax did the book justice. I loved it!

CP Smith lives in Oklahoma with her husband and five
children. She loves football, reading, and card games. Writing for her is about
escape. She writes what she loves to read, and leaves the rest to those with
better imaginations.

Connie, Suzy, and Karen did. Through their desperate attempts to reclaim themselves, the paths of these three women become intertwined. They develop a friendship and sisterhood stronger than any of them imagined.

Refusing to let one another face any of their hardships alone, they set out together on a journey toward discovery, hope, and freedom. But what they don’t expect are the heartaches, betrayals, and shattered lives that lie waiting

5 Stars cause 10 isn’t an option

“Sometimes you can be stabbed with knives and daggers without them ever touching your skin.” This is a quote from the book. This quote and many others will bring tears to your eyes, joy into your heart, and hope into your soul. This entire book brought out so many wild emotions within me. I am in love with these women, their story, and the way I could completely relate to each and every one of them.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone (man or woman) who has ever been wounded, physically or mentally. Who has ever felt like they weren’t good enough, or who has ever needed a little encouraging to get them through some tough times. This story made me look at my own life and I’m grateful to Terri for sharing this story with me.

Most people will look at you, but never SEE you… Never see what’s going on behind your eyes. To some you may seem happy, and maybe you are, but others will see the hurt. The pain that may have been put there years ago or as recent as yesterday, but whatever or whoever, you need to know that there are people out there just like you. There are people who would lay down their money, their time, and even their life for you. I feel a book quote coming, lol… “That’s what sisters are for, to love you until you can love yourself.”

“Don’t ever let anyone pretend they can handle the responsibility of making and keeping you happy.” ANOTHER quote from the book… WE are all responsible for our OWN happiness. God, I love this book!

This story is an enlightening journey of old friends and new. I immediately connected with Connie & Suzy and eventually Karen. Their lives, their pain became mine to carry. I was invested in them the minute I picked this book up to read. From their lowest points to their highest, I was there! I felt it all and cried right along with them. I laughed through tears and felt my heart fill with hope. I wish I could read this again for the first time. This book will stay with me for the rest of my days.
