MY REVIEW

Cocky Playboy by Alex Wolf & Sloane Howell
Tate & Decker
COCKY INDEED
5 StarsSo this is my first book by this dynamic duo and it won’t be the last! I found this book exhilarating and entertaining. Sexy, yet serious. It pulls you in from the beginning and keeps you held within its clutches for the duration.Tate is my kinda woman! She’s smart and has a head for business and a body for sin. She knows what she wants and how to get it. Just one problem, will her heart win or her head?

Decker is all kinds of sex appeal. His approach to business is not as conventional as you would think. He seems pretty cool to work for, but his personal life is another story.

The supporting character cast is medium sized. Mmmm, let’s see there’s Decker’s brothers and I’m sure I’ll get one of the names wrong here… but here it goes… Dexter, Deacon, and I think Donavan. These guys are, well… comical, and a bit stern. Something is going on here I suspect it may lead to more books!! Yeay!! One character that I found gritty and somewhat of an asshole was Weston. Weston is Tate’s boss and from what I could gather he’s sort of a prick, but that’s one girl’s opinion. Last but definitely not least is Quinn, the “assistant.” Not much dialogue for her, but I feel like we’ll be seeing more of her.

So to wrap this up, I found the storyline very compelling and real. The characters are powerful and demanded my attention. The dialogue flowed and felt very natural and the tension leading the climax did the book justice. Nicely done boys!

the one for me cover

The New York Times bestselling author of Watch Over Me delivers a steamy new novel of irresistible attraction in her popular Danvers series.

Mark DeSanto has never denied himself anything—especially in the bedroom. Rich, attractive, and successful, men envy him and women desire him. But when a sweet, guileless beauty faints at his feet, he suddenly finds himself wondering if it’s time to look for something more lasting…

Until her divorce, Crystal Webber never knew what it was like to follow her heart. Now she wants to experience all life has to offer. So when she catches a glimpse of Mark DeSanto in the halls of Danvers International, she’s instantly infatuated—and eager to join him for a walk on the wild side. Fainting at his feet wasn’t her plan, but at least it got his attention…

But for the first time, Mark wants to take things slow, which—considering the electricity between them—may take far more willpower than he’s ever had.

MAKE THE LEAP FROM HONDA TO LAMBORGHINI
5 Stars

So this installment into the Danver’s menagerie is a little different than the rest. Wanna know why? It’s hotter, it’s sexier, and holy freaking hell is it ever dirty! I have love this series from get-go. Sydney’s books are always so well rounded… Sexy alpha, head-strong female, a dilemma, a solution, and a kickass climax. I’m not gonna sit here and blow smoke up your ass, if you’re checking this book out it’s because you already love Sydney like I do. What I will do is tell you right from the start you’ll be captivated with Mark DeSanto and his jet black hair and Crystal Webber and her quirky banter! Good luck not laughing out loud or wiping tears away!

Crystal comes from a bizarre home. We met her mother back in another book, the title escapes me at the moment, but that woman was a total jerkface back then and believe me you she doesn’t get any better in this one. Crystal struggles to please her Mother, but can never quite get there. She makes some dreadful decision based on shit other people want and finds herself in some pretty sticky situations. When an illness lands her in Mark DeSanto’s life, you can bet your ass that things are going to change.

Mark’s life has been anything but simple and he likes it that way. He lives life on the edge. Different women grace his arm and bed regularly. His business comes first and he’s a very hands on kind of guy. His childhood wasn’t much better than Crystals. His parents pretty much ignored him. Drinking and partying their life away on his dime. When he meets Crystal, well, he can’t quite figure out why he’s so compelled to take care of her or why he can’t stop thinking about her or why the thought of her without him doesn’t seem to be an option. Just talking about this is putting the goofiest damn smile on my face.

The supporting character cast is enormous as usual. All the chickies, all the Danver’s men, and those miserable parents on both sides. I really wanted to beat the crap outta of those parents. I mean who really treats their kids or family that way? Why would Mark or Crystal put up with it for so long? Damn Sydney, you’re killing me. One character that stands out to me is Denny, Mark’s cousin and driver. This guy will have you rolling on the floor, laughing your ass off. Very cool dude!

I really enjoyed this one. I even think this may be my favorite Danvers novel. The pacing kept me enthralled and never left me wanting to skip around. The dialogue flowed with efficiency and so much stinking humor I must have highlighted like an insane amount of the banter! Those “tweets” back and fourth were superb! The tension was a great build and that climax, Wowza! I loved it immensely.

Filthy Rich by Virna DePaul
Cara & Brandon
IT WAS JUST OK FOR ME

The story captured my interest right away. It seemed to start out very powerful. So much so that I felt like I could not put it down, but further in it seemed pretty much predictable and I finished it knowing what would happen.

Cara and Brandon are our main characters and couldn’t be any more different from each other. Cara is a hard worker and manages to pretty much stay under the radar during her assent to the top and Brandon was driven and intense, but not as much of an alpha as I would have liked. The back and forth was driving me crazy.

It’s written in the first person point of view. The pacing was ok, but had a lot of filler and fluff that prompted me to skip around a bit. The tension leading up to the expected climax was just ok for me. The dialogue flowed satisfactorily, but there were times I felt some of it was a little corny.
