Merger by Chelle Bliss

Takeover Duet Book #2

Antonio Forte has always put business before pleasure, but ever since he met the gorgeous CEO of Interstellar Corp, he finds himself wanting both. And he’s hoping she won’t be able to refuse his latest offer.

Lauren Bradley knows how to survive as a woman in a man’s world–trust no one. Especially handsome, smooth-talking men who make her panties melt with a single glance like Antonio. But his offer is almost as tempting as he is.

Sometimes to gain it all, you have to give up everything…

Antonio & Lauren
5 Stars

So, this is NOT a standalone… you NEED to read book 1, Acquisition, first or you’ll be lost. Book one ends with one hell of a cliffy and book 2 will pick right back up where Chelle left you hanging on the edge of your seat. This one is so full of emotion and angst! You’re gonna need some tissues and maybe a few beers!!

Lauren is still our tough young CEO, but things and people happen to her in this installment which will challenge her strength and stability. I actually felt much sadness for her this time around as we sink deeper into the heart of this amazing woman.

Antonio is still all brooding and alpha, but more to the point, his “business” persona seems to melt away with Lauren more and more every day. We get to meet his family in this one and I think they help to shape his character into a more compassionate, devoting, and adoring boyfriend.

There are side characters who will scare the ever-loving shit outta you, and there are side characters who will make you laugh, cry, and swoon. Stay tuned, you might just see some type of spin-off from this duet!

Merger is a sizzling hot page turner! There’s suspense, sexy time, and much passion. The characters are fantastic and the story line intriguing. The pacing is perfect and the dialogue flows with efficiency. I loved it!

Acquisition: Takeover Duet, Book 1 by Chelle Bliss
Lauren & Antonio
5 Stars

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this book. It kept me on my toes most of the time and filled my heart with hope! It was riveting, thought provoking, and it gives a girl confidence. At least it did for me!

Lauren Bradley is a very accomplished young woman, but even with her success she has never lost sight of where she came from or where she’s headed. She is a well-rounded character with smarts, sex appeal, and grit. No doubt she’s facing an uphill battle in the next installment yet to come, but I have no reservation that she’ll meet this dilemma and others head on and with determination.

Antonio is all kinds of alpha with a badass persona. At first he rubbed me a little bit the wrong way, but slowly won my heart over. I believe his intentions are sincere and his heart is in the right place, but I’m not so sure he knows the correct path to lead him the right way. Time will tell!

The supporting character cast isn’t really all that big, but one that bares mentioning is Tara, Lauren’s friend. This girl cracked me right the hell up. She has a good head on her shoulders, but seems to be able to let loose and go with the flow. Everyone needs a friend like this to keep us from becoming too serious and stuffy. Another supporting character that I’ll mention is this Trent that works for Lauren. I’m not so sure about this dude just yet and I’m sure we’ll see more of him in the next book. I’m kind of hoping he ends up the recipient of a major ass beating.

Sorry peeps, but this is a cliffy. I know, I know, this is unusual for a Chelle Bliss book, but rest assured, there’s more to come. This one was funny, suspenseful, and sexy as fuck! The dialogue flows and the storyline compelling. Acquisition was effortless to read with many twists and turns that the tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. Great read!

Review: The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith

It was her last chance:

Amber Bierce had nothing left except her sister and two tickets on Earth’s first colony-ship. She entered her Sleeper with a five-year contract and the promise of a better life, but awakened in wreckage on an unknown world. For the survivors, there is no rescue, no way home and no hope until they are found by Meoraq—a holy warrior more deadly than any hungering beast on this hostile new world…but whose eyes show a different sort of hunger when he looks at her.

It was his last year of freedom:

Uyane Meoraq is a Sword of Sheul, God’s own instrument of judgment, victor of hundreds of trials, with a conqueror’s rights over all men. Or at least he was until his father’s death. Now, without divine intervention, he will be forced to assume stewardship over House Uyane and lose the life he has always known. At the legendary temple of Xi’Matezh, Meoraq hopes to find the deliverance he seeks, but the humans he encounters on his pilgrimage may prove too great a test even for him…especially the one called Amber, behind whose monstrous appearance burns a woman’s heart unlike any he has ever known.

5 Stars

I read this on the recommendation of a good friend. She told me it’ll take me 40+ hours to read it and she wasn’t kidding. In fact I think it took me longer than that… but… I’m here to tell you it was so damn worth it! This book is unlike any other I’ve read in an uber long time and I absolutely loved it.

Amber is me, she’s us, she represents the human race in a hostile environment and I’m not just talking about aggressive aliens. The other humans are a challenge of epic proportions. Amber not only has to contend with the voice in her head always telling her she’s not good enough or tough enough or thin enough, but these damn humans she’s so unfortunate to be stuck with on this foreign plant could turn Cinderella in to Cruella Deville.

Meoraq, the “Lizardman” is chilling, ferocious, and sometime hilarious! I loved how he singled out Amber and decided she was the one to learn from, train, and support. He’s on his own journey which seems to change as the trek goes along. According to his God, or Gann everything happens for a reason. People and things are put in his path because God/Gann put them there. He meditates a lot about what to do, where to go, and how to cope with his predicament.

In a way, this story is about us, our Earth, and OURpredicament. We follow blindly and without proof. We are slowly killing our Earth and each other and instead of putting on the breaks, we pray (meditate) and yell full speed ahead. God will save us. God will tell us what to do. God must be telling us something. Scary!

This story is long and thought provoking. The characters are extremely powerful and persuasive. The dialogue is somewhat hard to follow, but once the language barrier is lifted, it gets easier. Most books create tension that leads to a huge climax. I found this one was constant tension and more than one climax. I loved just about every aspect of it and will never forget how it made me feel.

When Life Happened
by Jewel E. Ann

I don’t know how long this will be this cheap, but this
book is priceless so pick up your copy NOW!!!

Parker Cruse despises cheaters. It might have something to do with her boyfriend sleeping with her twin sister. After a wedding day prank involving a strong laxative, that ends the already severed relationship between the twins, Parker decides to grow up and act twenty-six.

Step One: Move out of her parents’ house.

Step Two: Find a job. Opportunity strikes when she meets her new neighbor, Gus Westman. He’s an electrician with Iowa farm-boy values and a gift for saying her name like it’s a dirty word. He also has a wife. Sabrina Westman, head of a successful engineering firm, hires Parker as her personal assistant. Driven to be the best assistant ever, Parker vows to stay focused, walk the dog, go to the dry cleaners, and not kiss Gus-again.

Step Three: Don’t judge.

Step Four: Remember- when life happens, it does it in a heartbeat.

When Life Happened by Jewel E. Ann
This is the section where I put the H/h names, but I really can’t… I can’t explain it either. All I can say is PARKER!!!
5 Stars all the way!!!

Step One: Buy e-book because Pam Godwin recommended it to me and told me NOT to read any of the reviews… apparently there are still DICKS out there who put spoilers in their reviews without any warning! Incidentally, Pam was freaking way the fuck out about this book and she was only 40% into it.

Step Two: Find out Jewel E. Ann is at the same signing we’re at (Penned Con 2017) and I make my way over to her table to buy a signed copy of said book. Did I mention I went back a second time to buy another copy to give away on Rough Draft Book Blog?

Step Three: Sit my ass in a comfy chair and get down to the nitty gritty of reading this wild book… Holy shit! Can’t peel face away from book…

Step Four: Read said book in one day because I couldn’t freakin’ put the damn thing down. And now I completely appreciate Pam’s fangirling over Ms. Ann and this fanfuckingtastic tale!

I am in love with this book, this story, and all its characters! When I finished reading it I was satisfyingly content. Ms. Ann brought these characters to life in a way that connected directly to my heart from the very beginning.

Parker is a conundrum of emotions. She’s fucked up from the past and the future’s not looking too bright at the moment. I get now why when I asked Pam to describe this book, she kinda stuttered a bit and shrugged her shoulders. There’s not much I can say without giving too much away.

This is definitely not a light hearted read. It’s not dark either. Shit, what the hell am I trying to say? It’s very serious and penetrating yet laced with enough humor to put an occasional smile on your face. The storyline is so enthralling that by the time you reach the inevitable plot twist, you’ll be too captivated to turn back. At least I was. And it doesn’t stop there! Sit down, strap in, and get ready for a bumpy ride.

This is my first Jewel E. Ann book, but it won’t be my last. I love the way she throws down the words and makes them all dance across my heart! Fantastic read!

New Release & Review: Three is a War by Pam Godwin

The conclusion of the Tangled Lies series is now available!

Three is a War (Book 3)

Amazon | Other retailers | Goodreads

Three means war.
Three sides vying for forever.

My first love.
The bad boy with the dangerous smile and passionate temper draws attention like a lit fuse on dynamite. But his dark molten eyes spark only for me.

My second chance.
Over six feet of Norse god in a tailored suit, he calculates every move and seizes my hungry breaths with an iron fist.

The free-spirited dancer, torn between two men with no resolution in sight.
I tried leaving, staying, refusing, and surrendering.
What options do I have left?

I love two men, and I do the only thing I can. I fight.

Three is a War by Pam Godwin
Trace, Danni, and Cole
5 Stars

Attention: This is the THIRD book in this trilogy and if you haven’t read the first two STOP NOW!!! You NEED to read One is a Promise and Two is a Lie before you read this one… YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! Incidently, book one is FREE at the moment!!!

This book, this trilogy, this love triangle is everything I thought it would be and more. Sometimes I thought I knew where this was going and for a time I was spot on, but nope, Pam takes you on the wildest ride ever with this heartbreaking and exhilarating tale of affection, treachery, and acceptance.

Danni has a difficult decision to make. Does she choose Cole because he was her first love and the man she made plans to marry? Or does she choose Trace, the one who taught her to love all over again and brought dancing back to her life? She has six months to decide and six months to be loved and love the two most beautifully fucked up men I’ve ever read about!!!

Cole still seems to me to lean more towards acting like a bad boy. He wants Danni in the worst way, but sometimes his antics and actions make me wonder if he’ll ever grow up. Don’t get me wrong, I love the boy a ton. I’m just not sold on his arrogance. Now, Trace is the man for me! I’ve been #teamtrace since the beginning of this story and nothing has changed! He’s so damn bossy and commanding that when he speaks I feel like kneeling at his feet!

This trilogy will be on my top ten list for 2017 fer sure. It was brilliant the way Pam played it all out. My emotions were all over the grid! The characters are commanding and everything they feel, you will also! No matter what happens here, trust me when I tell you that you will feel a multitude of emotions from laughing out loud to filling a tissue with a shit load of snot after you’ve bawled your damn eyes out. What a great conclusion to one of the best stories of the year! I loved it with every fiber of my being!

Two is a Lie (Book 2)

Amazon | Other retailers | Goodreads

Two lies.
Two men who don’t share.

I never stopped loving Cole. Not when he left me. Not when he disappeared for three years. Not when he crashed back into my life in a violent explosion of testosterone and fury.
His sudden reappearance questions everything I thought I knew, including how I came to love another man.

Trace is an intoxicating breeze of seduction over ice. My rock. My second chance at forever.
And he’s committed to annihilating the competition.

The battle that ensues wrenches me back and forth between them.
Fighting and fucking.
Resisting and submitting.

Together, they entangle me in a web of lies, rivalry, and desire that weaves as deeply as their devotion to me.

I love two men, and if I can only have one, I choose none.
