Beneath Blood and Bone (Thicker Than Blood #2) by Madeline Sheehan and Claire C. Riley

It is the end of the world…

They call him Eagle. Like the grand and beautiful animal that symbolizes freedom. And during these dark times, when humanity is full of nothing but suffering, a man with such a powerful name should be a beacon of hope.

He is anything but.

Her name is Autumn. Though she hasn’t said this name, or much of anything else, in the four years since the fall of civilization. A shell of her former self, and living wild in a cave at the bottom of a ravine, Autumn is accustomed to being alone. She prefers it actually, especially when her only other options for company are either trying to kill her, or worse, lock her up inside their walls.

Captured by Eagle’s people Autumn is suddenly thrust back into the land of the living, though she would hardly call it living. The community of Purgatory is full of sinners, the most evil of which seem to have set their sights on her.

In an act born of anger and defiance, Eagle becomes Autumn’s unexpected savior forcing these two solitary people into one another’s broken worlds. Neither knows quite what to make of the other, but one thing is certain.
To survive Purgatory, they will need to learn how to rely on each other; a feat that could quite possibly teach them how to live again.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000040_00005]

Suit (Twin Duo #1) by Jettie Woodruff (Uber Angsty)

When my sister, Isabelle showed up, just ahead of a tropical storm, nostalgia and a need to reconnect took us on a ride…directly into the eye of a different kind of disaster. I woke from a coma unaware that I even had a twin and married to a man with two little girls. Although I fell madly in love with the children that I didn’t remember, I didn’t feel like I belonged with Paxton Pierce. I couldn’t be who he wanted me to be no matter how hard I tried. But things aren’t always as they seem. I fought my own demons, trying not to be the submissive he required me to be, yet I craved it like a drug. I wanted him.
Once upon a time I was an identical twin.
And then I wasn’t.

But there is only one man who can claim her body—and her soul.

Undone time and again by his exquisite dominance, X craves and fears his desire in equal measure. And while she longs for a different path, X has never known anything or anyone else—until now…

joseph fallen

Joseph Fall (The Estate #0.5) by M.S. Willis (One of the most fucked up books I think I’ll ever read)

There is a fine line between genius and madness…
Between love and hate,
Between right and wrong.

Joseph had created The Estate for her…
His wife,
The woman he chose to bear his child.
She was beauty unsurpassed;
And her song was unlike anything he’d ever known.

However, their love was a story that would not find a happy ending.

In this prequel novella to the Estate series, follow Joseph Carmichael as he creates a world unlike any other. Because, in order to comprehend The Estate, you must understand Joseph; but, in order to understand Joseph, you must discover how a man falls from light into the pitch black depths of ultimate darkness.

MY REVIEW  – Amazon  I WILL READ THE REST OF THIS SERIES… JUST NEED TO STEP AWAY FROM IT FOR A BIT… WHOA! (Madeline Abducted #2 is the next book in the series)

The Filthy Series (1-6) by Megan D. Martin (Addicting)

She runs from darkness
Into more of the same.
She runs to darkness,
She can never stay away.

Faye Turner is a nineteen-year-old homeless prostitute addicted to cocaine.

Her life is simple, bouncing from one high to the next, bent over greasy truck seats for faceless men. But everything changes when Rhett Hale comes back into her life. Her devilishly handsome step-brother brings life-changing news and a special kind of hate reserved only for Faye. But all the hate in the world can’t hide Rhett’s lust for her.

He wants something wild. Something filthy.

And Faye is tempted to give him just that.

But nothing is simple. Rhett isn’t the only part of her past that comes back.
Faye can’t run.
She can’t hide.
She becomes twined up in the razor sharp lies she fought so hard to get away from.

But lies only bloody the path to the truth.

MY REVIEW  – Amazon

The Bourbon Kings (The Bourbon Kings #1) by J.R. Ward (Loved it)

For generations, the Bradford family has worn the mantle of kings of the bourbon capital of the world. Their sustained wealth has afforded them prestige and privilege—as well as a hard-won division of class on their sprawling estate, Easterly. Upstairs, a dynasty that by all appearances plays by the rules of good fortune and good taste. Downstairs, the staff who work tirelessly to maintain the impeccable Bradford facade. And never the twain shall meet.

For Lizzie King, Easterly’s head gardener, crossing that divide nearly ruined her life. Falling in love with Tulane, the prodigal son of the bourbon dynasty, was nothing that she intended or wanted—and their bitter breakup only served to prove her instincts were right. Now, after two years of staying away, Tulane is finally coming home again, and he is bringing the past with him. No one will be left unmarked: not Tulane’s beautiful and ruthless wife; not his older brother, whose bitterness and bad blood know no bounds; and especially not the ironfisted Bradford patriarch, a man with few morals, fewer scruples, and many, many terrible secrets.

As family tensions—professional and intimately private—ignite, Easterly and all its inhabitants are thrown into the grips of an irrevocable transformation, and only the cunning will survive.

MY REVIEW  – Amazon (Book 2, The Angels’ Share comes out 7.26.2016)

Thicker Than Blood (Thicker Than Blood #1) by Madeline Sheehan and Claire C. Riley (This is one of those genres I don’t usually read, but loved it)

A true friendship never dies.

Leisel and Evelyn lost everything. Husbands. Families. Friends. Lives that made sense. All they had left was each other, and a friendship that could withstand anything…

Even an apocalypse.

Until one fateful night, the marginal safety they’d come to rely on comes to a vicious and brutal end. With the help of Alex & Jami, both unlikely allies, Leisel and Evelyn are able to escape their shattered sanctuary only to find themselves face-to-face with a much altered, much crueler life where they have to find the way—and the will—to stay alive in a world they no longer recognize.

Traveling across a broken and infection-ridden country; the road-weary group are pitted against endless violence, improbable circumstances, and the ultimate loss.
Everything comes at a price—especially safety, the cost of which could very well strip them of the one thing they’ve tried so hard to cling to: their humanity.

Yet along with all the trials they’re forced to endure, there’s also hope in the form of love. Having loved Leisel from afar, Alex attempts to put the pieces of her fractured heart back together.

But in such a savage world, is there room for love?

In a place of nightmares-made-reality, where the living should be feared far more than the dead, an unbreakable friendship and a love amongst all odds can mean the difference between life and death.

There are friends…

And then there are Leisel and Evelyn.

vandal cover

Vandal (Ashes & Embers #2) by Carian Cole (Oh God, this man, this book, so broken)

She takes my breath away; she is so beautifully damaged.
Yes I had broken her, ravished her life, destroyed her happiness. I brought her to ultimate despair. I was responsible for all the pain and suffering that now brought her to her knees in front of me.

Reckless in her agony.

She is a mirror of my own tortured soul.

But what I took away I can give back.
In ways she cannot even begin to imagine.

She is everything right in all my wrongs.

She loves me. She needs me.

She has no idea I’m the one who wrecked her life.

** Vandal is a dark romance with light BDSM. He is emotionally damaged and manipulative, but still wants love. This book deals with death, grief, deception, substance abuse, depression, and graphic sex. If this is not your thing, you can skip this book and move onto the next in the series and you will not be lost. Vandal is not the sweetheart that the other guys in Ashes & Embers are – but even the dark and damaged deserve to be loved, right?

MY REVIEW  –  Amazon (Start with STORM Book 1)

Fervent (Condemned Series Book 3) by Gemma James (This series made my skin crawl and my eye twitch)

Fervent is the third book in the Condemned series.

I never imagined things could get worse, but they do. The men who took us show no mercy. They won’t stop until they’ve destroyed Rafe for something he has no memory of, and I’m their weapon of choice.

Tortured and defiled, they make me wish I was back in that cabin where death was favorable to drawing another breath, but our captors can’t break what’s already broken.

What scares me is the madness I see festering inside Rafe. I’ve taken his freedom, his career, his reputation, yet despite all I’ve done, he’s determined to fight for me, kill for me, give everything he is for me.

He’ll even die for me.

NOTE TO READERS: FERVENT is a new adult dark romance with disturbing themes and explicit content, including sexual scenes and violence that may offend some. Intended for mature audiences. Part three of the CONDEMNED series. This is not a stand-alone read! Please begin with TORRENT and RAMPANT, otherwise, FERVENT might not make much sense.

Blood of Eve (Trilogy of Eve #2) by Pam Godwin (Again, another one of the those genres I don’t usually read, but ended up being one of my favorites of all times)

Two years into the aphid plague, there’s little hope left. Food and ammo are scarce. The mutated monsters are growing faster, smarter. And the ratio of men to women is millions to one. Mankind faces imminent extinction.

But Evie carries a cure for women.

Fiercely protected by three men, she sets out to heal as many infected females as possible. The journey becomes more complicated as her feelings for her guardians evolve, and theirs for her intensify.

When a voice from the past prophesies a solution for the dying race, she must make a choice.

Will she survive for love?

Or will she die for it?

MY REVIEW  –  Amazon (Start the Trilogy with Dead of Eve

Unlawful Desire (ALFA Private Investigations #2) by Chelle Bliss (What can I say, I have a slight Chelle Bliss obsession.  This is an excellent new series)

My fiancée ripped a piece of my heart out when I caught her with another man. It made me jaded, and I swore off relationships. But as with any plans, life had a way of making me its bitch.

When a way too young bombshell walked into my world, my heart began to beat again. Georgia asked me for one night—nothing more—and with no strings attached.

Our night of passion turned my universe upside down.

When she almost slipped out of my life, I knew I had to make her mine. Willing to do anything to protect her, I took justice into my own hands. My feelings for her brought out a side of me I thought I’d left behind.

I had to lose myself to be found again.

MY REVIEW  –  Amazon (Start the series with Sinful Intent

Vagrant Cover

Vagrant (Condemned Series Book #4) by Gemma James (Thank God Gemma finally got this final installment out.  It was a great ending to a magnificent serial)

This is the conclusion to Alex and Rafe’s story.

I’ve finally got what I want.

Rafe Mason loves me.
He’s forgiven me.
Survived for me.
Killed for me.

But is it enough?

His darkness owns me.
Consumes me.
Bends me.
Heals me.

Loving him shouldn’t be this hard.

NOTE: VAGRANT is a new adult dark romance with disturbing themes and explicit content, including sexual scenes and violence that may offend some. Intended for mature audiences. Part four of the CONDEMNED series.

With out me cover book 7

Without Me (Men of Inked #7) by Chelle Bliss

I’d led a selfish existence.

I liked who I was. Hell, I loved myself.

Women threw themselves at me and I took what they offered without remorse. I promised them nothing.

I sank my teeth into life, holding on to the bitch like my very existence depended on it.

Time passed.

Women came and went.

The second I let my guard down and released the hold I had on life… What was my award for such carelessness?

A love so spectacular and heart wrenching that it threw me for a loop. When I was in too deep to escape, my greatest fears became reality.

This is my story.

My downfall.

My salvation.

MY REVIEW  –  Amazon (The Men of Inked series starts with Throttle Me which is #Free start it now)

Dirty Ties by Pam Godwin

I race to finance it.
I evade to protect it.
I kill to attain it.
I planned everything.

Except her.
The alluring, curvaceous blonde at the finish line.
With sapphire eyes that cheat and lie.
Whose powerful family murdered mine.

I hate her.
I want her.

I know she’s hiding something.
But so am I.

The Decimation of Mae

The Decimation of Mae (The Blue Butterfly #1) by D.H. Sidebottom

The Devil visited me three times in my life; albeit, my short life. Not in the physical sense, you must understand, but very much literally.

He was persistent, resolute and tenacious. His ruthless greed to annihilate me was utterly disturbing. I am sure if he had hierarchy, the man at the top would have dragged his arse into Hell’s prison for his unscrupulous methods.

I was just fifteen when I first became aware of what he was capable of. This initial taste of him set the playing field for how my life was to be lived – for want of a better word.
He mocked me, showed me mercilessly how he played the game and how he liked to cheat at said game. He ridiculed and taunted me until, six months later, he won and took something of so much importance from me that I would never be the same again.

His second visit was, in my eyes, so much more cruel and heartless. I know we’re talking about the Devil here, and yes, you have a right to say he had no heart but even then, even when I was so utterly broken, I begged to differ and hoped – no, prayed – that somewhere deep in the caverns of his black, tortured soul there was something that beat and confused his emotions once in a while.

The third visit was somewhat different than the other two. He tried, and at first succeeded to bring me to my knees once and for all, but then something happened. God finally intervened and altered Satan’s intention; he sent hope and morphed the Devil’s minion into an Angel, hoping to break and shatter the anguish and suffering. He gave the ability for me to feel pleasure in pain, order in the chaos and light in the darkness.
But in giving me a reprieve, he also gave me something that would finally and ultimately obliterate me. He gave me the capability to love, therefore giving me the ability to be destroyed.
And Satan made sure that I was destroyed. Cruelly, viciously and sadistically.

I am Mae Swift, and this is the story of my decimation.

This story doesn’t contain hearts and flowers, it doesn’t even contain the word ‘love’. It isn’t for the fainthearted, nor those who want romance and happy ever afters. It’s dark, in fact it goes beyond the dark realms of misery and despair. It contains disturbing scenes of sexual violence, cruelty and torture. It also includes self-harm, pain addiction and brutalisation.

Please bear this in mind before purchasing this book. Thank you.

MY REVIEW OF Beneath the Burn by Pam Godwin

Beneath The Burn by Pam Godwin
Jay & Charlee

Well, I most certainly should wait to write this as I just finished it last night, but I just can’t fucking wait to gossip about this book. I’ll be talking about this book till the day I go to meet my maker! This is the second book I’ve read by Pam Godwin and it most certainly will NOT be the last. I’m a Pam groupie! I’d follow that bitch to ends of the earth just to get more books from her and maybe have a beer with her!! LOL! Can’t get enough of her writing. Ok, enough about my Pam Godwin obsession… onto the review…

My assessment of Beneath The Burn is going to be tough to put into words but I’ll give it my best effort to convey it to you in the simplest terms. This tale of anguish, sorrow, and bonds is so heart wrenching, so dark, so dank that my heart almost burst. Forget about what you think you know here or what you may assume this is about. It will take you to places you thought you’d never go and love it. Amidst kidnapping, rape, drug use, violence, and suspense you’ll (oddly enough) experience love, acceptance, protection, and believe it or not, humor. This is NOT… I REPEAT NOT for the faint of heart, all you peeps out there that love a composed and predictable romance, well, dig your heels in for this one, you’re going to need it. I honestly feel like I need to read one of those foo foo books just to cleanse my pallet before I move onto another story like this one! That’s a good thing by the way! Don’t misunderstand me, this story also has its share of humor and will having you laughing out loud at many points, but I think the hilarity is put there to help ease you into the mayhem and back out again.

I usually begin talking about the male lead in my reviews, but there’s just too much to say about our beautiful, courageous, intelligent, and talented Charlee (with two E’s!). What a breathtaking character. She is the strongest female character I’ve ever read and I have a feeling she mirrors (on some levels) one of my favorite authors (wink wink)! Personally I would have splintered from just a fraction of the shit she went through. In fact, I broke a bit just reading about all the turmoil and anguish she put up with for 9 goddamn years. She always seemed to have such an inspiring attitude and dished out amazing advise while her own heart was quiet. The kind of girl that gives without ever taking. Still laughing out loud at the “Charlee Constitution!”

Now Jay Maynard, oh boy. A man I love to hate! For starters, how can you not love a rock star for Godsakes? His external shell is hardened by years of abuse followed by more years of suppression. His insides however are a different story brought out by the trust and love an amazing woman. A quote from the book pretty much sums it up for me. “Love is like a series of improbable, lonely notes landing together in meaningful chaos. Where every channel carries a rhythm that conveys an expression of emotion. It doesn’t feel flat or fake or hallow. It’s not exaggerated with overtones. The complexity might feel organized, but the creation is never controlled.” Jay was, is, and always will hold an enormous place in my heart. I wouldn’t mind trying “The Strong Box” position with him!

Great supporting characters in Nathan, Tony, all the band members, and even that nasty, son of a bitch Roy. Without that POS this story wouldn’t have the best villain ever written. I almost felt a tiny bit of compassion for the dick towards the end, but to no avail… he showed his true nature and I was back to wanting to cut his nuts off. I cherished the brother/sister connection Charlee and Nathan had formed. He could have left her to fend for herself, but he gave up his life and time to stand by her side and shield her at all costs. The band members, Laz, Wil, and Rio are some of the best in the business. From thongs to video games, these guys will have you laughing your asses off.

The writing style, well, it’s Pam Godwin and there is no other like her and her writing. It’s detailed, yet it flows. It’s angsty, yet she manages to plug in plenty of softness. And it’s suspenseful and scary at times yet she peppers in some humor and makes it one of the best books ever written. I’m glad I finally got the opportunity to read it and will be bragging about it for the next ten years, maybe more!!

The pacing was good and the highs and lows kept my heart in check, most of the time! It’s 484 (Kindle version) pages long and every, I mean EVERY damn page warped and corrupted my heart until there was nothing left but the shell it came in. Can’t say much without giving anything away, but I will say this… at 94% I had to set my kindle down before I threw it and text my friend Kat through tear filled eyes to tell her I was bawling my eyes out. She had finished it already and was waiting for me so that we could discuss it. Needless to say, she told me she’s been there also and to keep reading and text her when I was done! I’M DONE KAT, I’M DONE AND I LOVED IT!!!!

10 Stars all the damn way!!!!

MY REVIEW OF Captive in the Dark by CJ Roberts

Captive In The Dark (The Dark Duet #1) by C.J. Roberts
Caleb & Livvie “Kitten”

Ok, first off… repeat after me… “I am a dirty whore!” No shit… just say it now cause once you’ve ended this book, you’ll be thinking it!! I will never be the same again! I am dirty. I am a filthy whore. I left a piece of me on the pages of this book and this book left a piece of itself on me! I loved it, I hated it, I wanted to be it, and most of all I will treasure this story for the rest of my existence.

I read Captive in the Dark on the recommendation from another dirty whore, Chelle Bliss. She actually bought me this book a year ago and I kept pushing it further and further down my TBR list. Now I know why! Chelle knew too that once I ingested the words that make up this tantalizing tale that I’d be forever scarred and my heart would never be the same and if it’s all the same to you, I’d like to keep it that way!!

I’ll start with Caleb. Holy freaking hell, this guy is one of a kind. He’s alpha, he’s sexy, he’s as fucked up as they come, and he’s so dark and mysterious that you’ll never, and I mean never know what he’s thinking. He IS the “monster that no one thought to look for in the light of day!” Even after the unimaginable and unspeakable things he does to Livvie, I still crave him in the worst way. Have faith that he’ll turn your world upside down and inside out, he did mine! When he says, “Kitten, don’t let me find you!” a chill ran down my spine. A chill of fear, of excitement, or maybe a chill of the unknown and what would happen if he did find her! Yikes, the hairs on the back of my neck are standing up right now (*looks over shoulder).

Livvie, or should I say Kitten, well, she kind of drove me bat shit crazy. She cries all the damn time. I don’t know what I would do in such a situation, but I sincerely don’t think I’d cry so much. She’s stronger than she thinks and pulls that strength out of her ass at times. She’s not the battered dog she portrays herself to be. She’s more like a young woman who goes from one appalling circumstance to a poorer one depending on how you look at it. I personally think the entire event changes her for the better! She seemed to do a lot of growing up in four months, God knows she had to, but sheesh, the crying almost did me in!

Just so you all know, when you finish this book, you’ll be agitated, salivating, feeling pissed off, exhilarated, and above all dirty! This is a cliffhanger so have the next installment, Seduced in the Dark ready to go. This book was effortless to read and I finished it in two days. It was so captivating and compelling that I could NOT put it down. The dialogue flows and feels very natural. The pacing is perfect and the tension leading to the climax was invigorating to say the least. It’s 224 (Kindle version) pages long… and for me that equates to… not too long, not too short… just right baby… now get your asses over to whatever site you buy your books from and get this mofo immediately!!!

Thank you Chelle for opening my eyes to this dirty world!!!!

5 Stars because 10 is not available!!!

MY REVIEW OF The Decimation of Mae by D.H. Sidebottom

The Decimation of Mae by D, H, Sidebottom

Daniel & Mae

I Am in awe, I’m not sure exactly how to feel about this story, I want to scream. I Want to cry, but most of all I want to tell you about the story that broke me in so many ways. I can honestly tell you that a piece of me died on the pages of this beautiful tale! From the very first word, I was hooked, this is one of those books that you won’t be able to put down no matter how hard you try. Damn you D.H.!!!

Mae, our little lamb is my hero in every way shape and form, She laughed in the face of the devil and taunted him with her defiance.   From the life she was dealt to the life she was force into, she never lost herself. A woman repeatedly beat, told she wasn’t worth anything, and stolen from the only life she knew. Her spirit still soared above all the evil. Mae and her dirty mouth and will to exist will live with me forever. I can only hope to be half the woman she is.

“You will never pen me in like some timid animal that is too scared to fight. I have nothing to lose. You can beat me, hurt me, control me even, but you will never ever own me.” ~Mae

Daniel is everything I love to hate in a character. He’s offensive, condescending, evil in its purest form… yet he demands my attention and the hope that one day he would change and find his peace! I’ve never read a character that demanded so much passion from me. I hated him, I loved him. I wanted to be the lamb to his Shepard, I don’t even Care if the path he lead me on is to my demise,.. my slaughter! I’d go!

“I am the sort of man who will relish and your defiance, Mae. Believe me; I would love nothing more than to fight with you, to take you hard and punishingly, to bruise you and make you bleed.” ~Daniel

Great supporting character cast. From that dirt bag, drug dealing, scumbucket Liam in the beginning to those evil, wicked handlers Demi and Frank. God, I love a good villain, even Daniel could be grouped into this category.

This book will tantalize your senses and make you feel like your entire world is collapsing around you. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it with every fiber of my being, I even laughed out loud at parts. It’s frightening, its humorous, and it’s the complete package of love and hate. The pacing is just right, the dialogue flows with expertise, and the highs and lows that brought me to that wonderful climax have branded my heart and will forever be a part of me.

5 Stars
