Review: Dirty Bastard by Jessica Clare

Billionaire roughneck Knox Price finds himself twisted by desire for a yoga teacher in this new romance by the New York Times bestselling author of Dirty Scoundrel.

Knox Price has always fallen short in comparison to his brothers. Boone is the ambitious one. Clay is the nice one. Gage is the handsome one. And Knox? Well, he’s the cynical one. The odd man out in the ultra-wealthy but rather unique Price family. It’s not that Knox hates people–it’s that humanity always disappoints him. When you become an oil-rich, Texan billionaire overnight, people treat you a certain way. Just once he’d like to meet someone that isn’t dazzled by his wallet.

Then, he meets struggling yoga teacher Lexi Brandon. She’s weird. She’s unpredictable and tends to say strange things. She lurks in the bushes and dresses in all black. She loves when people cross the street to get away from her. Lexi’s definitely not his type, but she’s also the first one to ever truly see him and not just another rich, dirty Price.

And that’s…fascinating. But how do you catch the interest of a woman who goes out of her way to be odd? When an unexpected surprise throws them both for a loop, Knox decides it’s time to get down and dirty, abandon the rules, and be who he truly is–a bastard.

Dirty Bastard by Jessica Clare
Knox & Lexi
I KEEP FALLING IN LOVE WITH THESE GUYS
5 Stars

Wow… I mean… WOW!! These Roughneck Billionaire boys just keep getting hotter and hotter. Just when you think you know them and what they’ll do, they surprise you. I don’t know whether to scratch my watch or wind my butt!

Knox is your discreet, prankster type. He’ll put ketchup in your beer and sit back and patiently wait the show. He’s wise to the gold digging women out there and prefers his life to be as uncomplicated as possible. Wait till he meets Lexi, shit’s about to get real.

Lexi (short for Meredith – lmao) is yoga instructor. A good one, but business isn’t always so “busy.” Maybe it’s her “charming” personality. She’s a recluse and prefers her solitary lifestyle. Don’t mistake me; even though she’s a hermit, her one liners and zingers are amazing… she made me laugh out loud multiple times.

The best part about this story is that it has all the elements to perfectly round it out. There’s suspense, love, sex, humor, and the writing style is flawless. The pacing is fast, the dialogue flows nicely, and the characters are entertaining. I loved it!

Beauty and the Billionaire: The Wedding by Jessica Clare
Gretchen & Hunter & So much more
SHORT, TO THE POINT, AND OH SO GOOD!
5 Stars

So, this is a perfect little novella follow up to Gretchen and Hunters book Beauty and the Billionaire. It’s a novella so it’s short but sweet. It gets right to the point AND leads you right into another story that I think has been stirring in Jessica’s head for a while now. .

Gretchen is planning her wedding to Hunter, but seems to be freaking way the heck out over every tiny details. She keeps firing people and taking on their tasks by herself. What could possibly go wrong.

Hunter is oblivious to Gretchen’s dilemmas, however he’s there to help, he just doesn’t know how or what to do. He has some things up his sleeve as well and he’s trying hard to keep them under wraps.

The supporting characters cast is pretty vast. I’ll only touch on a few. Daphne (Gretchen’s sister) is back in the picture and doing quite well or so it would seem. She’s a recovering drug addict and trying to mend fences with her two sisters. Her trainer and life coach Wesley is heavily in the picture and I’m thinking we might see more of him in the future.

The storyline is eventful, but not too hectic! So much going on and it’s packaged in this quick read. The writing style is impeccable and the pacing is perfect. The characters are likable and hilarious. The tension is immediate and the climax flawless. Loved it!

MY REVIEW

Stranded with a Billionaire by Jessica Clare
Logan & Bronte
WOW, WHAT A CUTE STORY
4 STARS

Ok, so I read outta order… I read book #2 along time ago, but it really didn’t matter… I think all these books can be read as standalones. This was cute, comical, and sexy. Bronte is so damn adorable and amusing and Logan… what a jerkface, at least in the beginning.

Bronte is a waitress from Kansas City and she’s won a trip to the Bahamas. Well, the trip sucks… her companion is a pain in the ass, the weather is gloomy and rainy, and to top it off, during the island evacuation due to a hurricane she gets trapped in an elevator with a meanie.

Logan is wealthy beyond compare and he’s rude and stuck up to just about anyone beneath his status, which is just about every one! When he gets trapped in an elevator at his new investment resort with a waitress he doesn’t really have a choice but to loosen up and be civil.

The supporting character cast is made up of mostly Logan’s friends who I believe will all have their own books. I know Hunter does cause that’s book #2, Beauty and the Billionairethe first one I’ve read and loved. Oh and I read The Billionaire and the Virgin which is a spin off series and really good also.

This book isn’t dark, but it’s not too light-hearted either. The characters are powerful and the writing style effortless to read. There are plenty of highs and lows to keep you guessing and the climax just right. It was a fun read and I’m going to try to stay reading in order now… no promises!

☀MY REVIEW☀

The Billionaire and the Virgin (Billionaires & Bridesmaids #1) by Jessica Clare

Marjorie and Rob

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW!!!

Ok well, the story is not what I’m used to. However, it is a fine story! We’ve got a main female character who 6 feet 1 inch tall and a main male character at 6 feet tall. To add to the height variation our female character lead likes to wear high heels, like 5″ heels high, which make her feel attractive and according to Rob, they make her legs go on for miles. I never thought I could grasp that concept of a woman taller than her man but this story is so damn charming that the height factor didn’t even matter to me.

Marjorie was raised by her grandparents therefore she seems to have a connection to the elderly. She knits, she plays bingo, and everything else geriatric in between. She’s still a virgin… basically because of her height and the company she keeps. When she goes to a Caribbean island for her friends wedding she meets Rob. The combination between meeting Rob and, I believe her location and atmosphere bring her out of her “elderly” shell. She’s funny, she’s witty, and she’s the perfect date if you’re pushing 84… Bwahaha!

Now that I’ve told you about Marjorie, I find it funny that now I’m going to tell you that Rob is the absolute reverse. He’s a playboy, he’s an asshole, and he’s not in the market for a girlfriend or a relationship. I had a hard time connecting to him at first because I felt like everything that came out of his foul mouth was fabrications. He totally grew on me throughout the story and by the end he had won my heart over ten fold.

The story is very endearing and amusing and sometimes even heartbreaking. You’ll enjoy magnificent highs and horrific lows, but once you reach the climax you’ll be glad that you put forth the effort and time to read this. The pacing is sometimes slow but not bad. The dialogue sometimes feels corny but that just adds to the humor. I really enjoy Jessica Clare’s books. She seems to know how to relate to her readers on so many diverse levels.

Beauty and the Billionaire (Billionaire Boys Club novel #2) by Jessica Clare

Hunter & Gretchen

MODERN DAY BEAUTY AND THE BEAST!

Ok, at first I was a little worried that I wouldn’t like this one. It seemed to be a bit cheesy in the beginning, but soon became a book I literally could not put down. I’m leaning towards the modern day version of the Beauty and the Beast here, and I’m not talking hairy, scary monsters. I’m talking about a billionaire recluse that hides himself away from society because of the fear of being judged based on his appearance. His savior comes in a petite, beautiful, and funny as hell package named Gretchen. I think this one will stay with me for a while!

I want to tell you that Hunter was charming, appealing, and forthcoming, but I can’t. He was anything but! He was rude, condescending, abrupt, and down right pompous. This could have been the reason I wanted to throw this damn book across the room at times. He became disfigured or scarred up at a young age therefore never gained the skills needed to function around others. He does however have a need to be around a certain ghostwriter and with the help of his money and business associates he makes that happen, now the rest is up to him. Can he do it? Can he befriend the beautiful Gretchen?

Now, Gretchen is Hunter’s polar opposite! She’s entertaining, comical, open, and honest to a fault. She has no filter. Whatever she’s thinking, she’s saying and God help whoever is on the receiving end of that conversation. She’s living paycheck to paycheck and barely keeping her head above water most days, but her attitude and approach towards life never changes despite all her struggles. She’s just a breathtaking person to be around and I for one would most certainly add her to my girlfriend posse!

Great supporting character cast. Eldon, the creepy butler made this story that much better. You never know if he’s with you or against you. At times I wanted to set his face on fire and put it out with a fork, and others I just accepted that this was him and how he ran the Buchanan mansion. I love when Gretchen gives him notes to pass to Hunter. Laughed out loud at some of those! Then there’s Gretchen’s crazy sister Daphne. Wow, I mean.. just wow. She’s one for the record books. We don’t get to see much of her in this tale, but something tells me she’ll be showing up in later installments of this series.

The dialogue flows well and feels natural. The pacing is pretty good once the story gets going. There was plenty of tension being built up throughout the entire story to give you heart palpitations, but that climax was out of this world. I was laughing, crying, and then laughing again. It’s a good heart warming story with some very steamy sex scenes. I read the actual paperback which came in at 277 pages long and like I said earlier, it starts out a little slow and cheesy… but stick with it, you’ll be thanking me!

4.5 Stars!
